Reading Adventures

For all participants: Track the approximate amount of time you read during the summer. Any reading from June 4 through August 31 counts! Each circle on your reading sheet counts for 15 minutes.

For teens and adults: In addition to tracking your reading minutes, you may also track the number of squares completed on your Reading Adventure sheet.

Reading sheets are available in each summer reading sign up bag. If you need an additional sheet, download a copy below or ask during your next library visit.

In-Person Programs

Throughout summer the library offers either in-person or at-your-own pace programs for all ages. All programs are free to attend and include chances to win weekly prizes. Programs are listed above and on our website calendar.

Please note: while almost all of our programing is available to patrons of any age, "Teen" programs are limited to participants in 6th through 12th grades.

How Can I Play If I Can't Come To The Library?

1. Track your reading throughout the summer. Reading minutes can be turned in through the end-of-day on Saturday, September 7, to be eligible for prizes.

2. If you have internet access: Email a photo of your reading log to info@ndld.org to turn in your reading minutes for prize tickets throughout the summer.

3. With a parent or guardian’s permission, sign up for the library’s monthly delivery program. Call (541-836-2648) or email (info@ndld.org) the library to request books, take-to-make craft kits (limited availability), and earn physical badges. This program is open to anyone living within the North Douglas Library District boundaries. Library staff will need your guardian’s name, phone number, and delivery address. This is a contactless delivery, where items are dropped off at your front door and waiting library returns are picked up.

Submitting Your Summer Reading Material

Each week during summer reading we encourage all participants to submit their weekly minutes read or reading sheet progress. Call us, email us, or drop by during library open hours and let us know

how much you've read that week!

Each week you submit your reading minutes you are entered into the weekly prize draw, and all prize tickets earned throughout the summer go into the Grand Prize drawing for your age group.

Whether you have managed to read one book or 25, and whether you have read 10 minutes or over 20 hours, we encourage all summer reading participants to turn in their summer reading material. If you cannot submit your reading sheet or reading minutes during library open hours, write your name on your reading log and email us a picture to info@ndld.org or place your card in the library book drop.
